Spanish Cave
Wichita Mtns Wildlife Refuge - SW Oklahoma
November 10, 2007

Hike in
(top route)
has a lot of boulder hopping
and is the harder way in/out
Cross the dam of the lake
and then walk north
a few feet to find the trail

************************

Hike out
(lower route)
is steep and has some
rock scrambling
but is the easier way in/out
From the parking lot at the dam
walk down the road and then turn
west and follow the stream bed south
to the entrance to Spanish Canyon,
then walk up the canyon
Lots of Green Briar - don't wear shorts

Interesting Note
The names of
Post Oak Lake & Treasure Lake
are incorrectly shown on most maps
(like the one on the left)
as Treasure Lake is on the West
& Post Oak Lake is on the East

Where we parked the cars

Between where we are standing
to shoot this picture
and the cars
is a 100' deep canyon we just crossed

Almost there...
That is hair from a Bison
that rubbed against the tree...

Thankfully - before we got there
